Practical AI for Growing Businesses: Where to Start
AI does not have to start with a moonshot. Here is how to find the first use case that pays for itself.
Many business leaders know AI matters but are unsure where to begin. The most successful programmes we see start small, with a clearly defined problem and data that already exists.
Start by listing repetitive, high-volume decisions in your organisation — approving requests, categorising support tickets, forecasting stock. These are usually the best candidates because the value is easy to measure.
Next, check your data. You do not need perfect data, but you do need enough historical examples for a model to learn from. A short data audit will tell you whether a project is ready today or needs groundwork first.
Finally, define success before you build. Agree on the metric — hours saved, errors reduced, revenue gained — and run a focused pilot for six to eight weeks. A clear result makes the case for scaling far stronger than any slide deck.
